Gingerbread House Contest Begins Dec 1st Judging Dec 4th!

The Whitewright Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring our annual Gingerbread House Decorating Contest in conjunction with the Christmas Parade and Lighting of the Lights to be held Saturday, December 5th.

The contest is open to individuals, families, youth groups, school groups and businesses from anywhere within the USA. This is a wonderful way to get students, employees, churches and family members involved in the holidays!

There is no fee to enter the contest.

Be creative with your gingerbread, create churches, barns, country homes, etc Your gingerbread house must be made of all edible material; construction may be in any configuration but is limited to a 2’ x 2’ area for display and must be on its own board or base.

If you are interested in entering a gingerbread house masterpiece, please have your entry at the Chamber of Commerce Office no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday December 3^rd. Entries will also be accepted between 10:00 am – 5:00 pm from Tuesday December 1st thru Thursday December 3^rd. Judging will take place on Friday, December 4^th.

After judging, all Gingerbread House entries will be on display at 111 W. Grand from noon Friday December 4th thru the Christmas Parade on Saturday at 4:00 pm. Visitors can also vote on their favorite house before 4:00 pm on Saturday for a people’s choice winner. All winners will be announced during the Christmas parade.

All entries should be picked up from the Chamber Office no later than 5:00 pm on Saturday, December 5^th.

Christmas Parade followed by the Lighting of the Lights
4:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Join us for our annual Christmas Parade!

Our Theme this year is Christmas Memories! We are encouraging one and all to create floats based on this year’s theme. They can be pulled by mule, horse, tractor, auto, or anything you can think of. We will also have plenty of non-floats in the parade as well. Applications will be forthcoming.

So get together with your church, organization, business, or family & friends and register to take part in this time honored tradition. The parade will start at the American Legion Hall and travel North up Bond and West on Grand. Parade participants are to be at the American Legion hall by 2:30 for line-up and judging.

Santa Clause will be making an appearance as well!

After the parade join us for the lighting of the lights in song as we light up this year’s tree and start the Christmas Season in Whitewright.

Lighting of the Lights with Song!
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Join Us for the Lighting of the Lights & Carols around the Christmas Tree.

Join your Friends, Family and Neighbors for an evening of song around the Christmas Tree bringing in the Christmas season!

The Christmas tree will be just West of the Independant Bank at Grand & Spruce.

We will have song books with all the lyrics so please come join us as we all sing the songs of the Christmas season.
