August Chamber Newsletter with Calendar

Summer is fading fast – can you believe school is just a few weeks away from starting? That also means that the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament is just around the corner on September 27th. It is our 11th Annual Golf Tournament and is our largest fundraiser for the year. We are glad to be returning to Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham this year. There is still room for a few more teams to sign up as well as a few holes left to sponsor. If you would like to register, volunteer help or just have questions, call the chamber office at 903-364-2000. More info here.


On July 13th Simpson’s Flooring hosted July’s Networking Nights which had a great turn-out probably due to all of the great meat that they cooked up on the new smokers/grills that they sell. August’s Networking Nights will be on the 10th from 5:00-6:30 and will be hosted by AshGrove Cement and it will be held at 111 W. Grand next door to the Chamber office. Networking nights are held every month and are an opportunity for members to network and visit. Refreshments will be served.


For those of you who missed it, Cathy Pierce’s birthday was July 29th. Those who could met at one of the chamber’s newest members, the Whistlestop Café in Van Alstyne, to have a birthday lunch with Cathy. Please make sure you stop in to wish her a belated happy birthday. We really appreciate all that she does for the Chamber and for Whitewright.
On July 24th the Chamber sponsored a Christmas in July Church Bazaar. The First Baptist and First Methodist Churches of Whitewright participated. There was a great turn out for this event. We would like to thank everyone who participated for all their great work.
On August 20th from 10 am to 7 pm & 21st from 10 am to 4 pm the Whitewright Public Library will be having a book sale. There will be books, videos, audio books and more! Hardcover, trade paperback books, audio books, videotapes, DVDs, etc. are $1, & mass market paperbacks are 50¢. Saturday will be a "clearance sale" with bags available for you to fill for only $5 per bag. Donations for the sale are greatly appreciated. Accepting books, videos, audios (books & music), magazines, & DVD's, in good condition.

Don’t forget about Trade Days on July 20th through the 22nd . Trade Days takes place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday just prior to the month’s 4th Monday. You can visit them online by clicking Here.

Chrystal Opry House will be having its Summer Festival at Melody Ranch on August 26th and 27th. Come to The Chrystal Opry House at Melody Ranch and see how enjoyable local live music in a family friendly atmosphere can be! The festival will include: Bill Grant, Welch Mountain Bluegrass, Star Canyon, Copper Canyon, Boggy River Boys, Full Quiver, High Strung, Blue Valley, Upper Grassmen, Shady Grove Ramblers and Stevens/Blocker Band. The 8th Annual Grand Street Fall Festival will be held on November 6th in downtown Whitewright. This year is already shaping up to be the best year ever, so make sure you mark your calendars now! Volunteers are still needed for this fun event. If you would like to help out, call Cathy at the Chamber office at 903-364-2000.
